Accidents will happen. It was unexpected that after a once-in-a-century heavy rainstorm, food collecting and sharing action had to be reluctantly called off in many districts. However, volunteers are still looking forward to the days when we can do everything we can to reduce food waste and deliver food to those in need.  

Food sharing action very much needs your support. We sincerely invite you to join us as a volunteer. With your participation, we will be able to carry on cherishing food and helping others as well as spreading the action to more communities.   

Last week, volunteers took part in the collection of bread and sharing action in three districts, namely Fo Tan, Tai Po and To Kwa Wan. A total of 385 servings of bread were collected weighing 44.29 kgs in total. The total number of beneficiaries was 228.  

Here were the results of each district:  

Fo Tan: On Saturday, 57 servings of bread were collected weighing 6.20 kgs; On Sunday, 39 servings of bread were collected weighing 3.06 kgs. All servings of bread were distributed to the cleaners and members in the neighbourhood. The total number of beneficiaries was 73.  

Tai Po: On Wednesday, 15 servings of bread were collected weighing 1.63 kgs; On Friday, 59 servings of bread were collected weighing 5.53 kgs; On Saturday, 124 servings of bread were collected weighing 14.28 kgs; On Sunday, 58 servings of bread were collected weighing 6.83 kgs. All servings of bread were given out to the cleaners, scavengers, the homeless and members in the neighbourhood. The total number of beneficiaries was 142.  

Fanling: On Tuesday, there was no leftover bread and the action had to be cancelled; On Friday, the action was cancelled due to bad weather.  

To Kwa Wan: On Wednesday, 33 sandwiches (included in the total bread weight) were collected weighing 6.80 kgs; On Sunday, the action was called off due to bad weather. All servings of bread were distributed to the cleaners, the homeless and members in the neighbourhood. The total number of beneficiaries was 13.  

Hung Hom and Causeway Bay: On Friday, the action was cancelled due to bad weather.
